Anna Delgado, MT-BC

I'm a cat-loving, exclusively-New-York-Pizza-eating, tambourine-playing Music Therapist.  My childhood was a PBS special thanks to my amazing parents and family.  From singing "Aiken Drum" for hours on car rides with my mom, to the silly voiced books that my dad memorized and all the other imaginative play time I had with my younger sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins I was/always will be young at heart.  I love playing and talking with children & adore seeing the world through their new, fresh, excited eyes.  That's why I love working in a special needs preschool as their Music Therapist.  Music is more than just listening; music makes you dance, sing loudly, feel something, and teaches you about academic subjects or about how you should treat other people.  Music is important.

BenAnna Band came together when my partner had a birthday party to play and asked for me to help him and a light switch flipped on.  I recognized a dream that I had put on the back burner my entire life could be a reality.  After further being inspired by Nina West's children album "Drag Is Magic," I knew BenAnna Band would have a strong voice and give voices to an important population of the world.

Thank you for joining us as we advocate, validate and encourage our little ones to be the biggest and brightest lights in the world!

Guitar, Loud Noises & Funny faces

Over the course of the last decade and for the entirety of my professional life, I have had the privilege to work with kids of all ages (including the grown-up ones!) to make music. Sharing in these individual, irreplaceable musical moments has been the absolute greatest joy, and I can’t even begin to say just how excited I am to be making music and joy in a whole new way with the BenAnna Band!

Both Anna and I live in Long Island, New York currently, but originally I hail from the green and gorgeous state of Vermont, where I was lucky enough to have worked with children  and young adults as a summer camp counselor and administrative coordinator, as well as in a therapeutic context as a Neurofeedback technician. Much luckier still, I met Anna at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY, where we both studied music therapy. We quickly became best friends, and our mutual love of working with kids, especially through music, eventually spawned the idea of starting our own project!

In both of our careers, whether teaching or working in a therapeutic setting, we have continued to witness the power of music to help people shine their brightest light and to bring folks together in the strongest, most unexpected ways, and with a heavy dash of good old fashioned silliness, we hope to continue that work by bringing some smiles to faces and songs to hearts. We are both incredibly passionate about the community that music provides, and as such it is our mission to provide a sense of inclusion, representation, and belonging for kids of all ages and all abilities through music and fun.
